Trade Union

Introduction

The Trade Union of University of Science and Technology of Hanoi was established on April 19, 2012 under the Decision No. 143/QD-CDN of the Vietnam Education Union. On June 7, 2016, according to Decision No. 132/QD-CDN of the Vietnam Education Union, the Trade Union of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi was transferred to the Union of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Since June 25, 2025, the Trade Union of University of Science and Technology of Hanoi has officially been recognized as a member of National Education Union of Vietnam pursuant to the Decision No. 663/QĐ-CĐN. 

The Executive Committee of the University’s Trade Union for the 2025-2030 term consists of 09 members, of which: 03 are lecturers, 06 are administrative officers. The University’s Trade Union currently consists of 15 trade union groups with 202 members, of which female members are 118, accounting for 58.4%.

Functions and Missions

Representative to protect the legal rights and benefits of employees

• Contribute ideas, draft and reform important regulations of the University.
• Implement the work of supervising and inspecting the implementation of policies and regimes for employees, taking care to protect the legitimate rights and interests of employees.

Taking care of life of union members and staff

• The trade union always cares about the spiritual life of trade union members, regularly encourages and visits the families of employees who are in difficult circumstances, sick, ready to share difficulties with trade union members when there are weddings or funerals.
• Organize activities to celebrate International Women’s Day 8/3, Vietnamese Women’s Day 20/10; distribute rewards to employees’ children on International Children’s Day 1/6 and Mid-Autumn Festival.
• Every year, the Trade Union, in collaboration with the Rectorate, organizes for staff to go to exchange, study, team-building activities, contributing to creating motivation to improve quality and efficiency at work.

Achievements

Trade Union actively contribute to common activities:

• Organizing annual Blood Donation Day at the University with the participation of a large number of staff, lecturers, students and officials of Institutes under VAST.
• Organizing volunteer activities: visiting and giving gifts to difficult patients at hospitals in Hanoi, visiting and giving gifts to wounded soldiers infected with Agent Orange, visiting and giving gifts to children with disabilities…

The Trade Union of the University always receives support from the Rectorate, the leaders of the Departments of the university. Trade Union members have always enthusiastically participated in activities and grasped timely information.
