HUST institutional level Design and development of a stability and obstacle avoidance system for small multi-rotors unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)

In recent years, research on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), especially quadrotor, is increasingly promoted both in civilian and military applications. To efficient utilization of their advantages, recent research deeply focuses on the stabilization problem. However, this makes some issues when a quadrotor operates in an environment with more obstacles. In order to decrease the risks when operating (destabilization, the danger of collision),

this paper presents the research and development of a stabilization and obstacle avoidance system for a quadrotor through PID controls and distance sensors.

Goodd889 cá cược trực tuyến institutional level Electronic and transport properties of electrons in novel graphene structures Two main aims of this project are:

(i) Studying electronic and transport properties of electrons in graphene structures such as (bilayer) graphene nanoribbons under an electric/magnetic or strain field, twisted bi- and multi-layer graphene, cross-bar graphene, domain wall bilayer graphene, and circular p-n graphene islands to explore the exotic behaviors of electrons.

(ii) Designing experimental setups that can help detect and exploit those properties of electrons easily.

2021-2023 (PI)
GUST Develop modeling tools of STM/SGM to investigate local electronic properties and transport in 2D quantum systems We study and develop theoretical computational and simulation tools for analyzing the physical pictures leading to the experimental STM/SGM measurements. These tools also allow theoretical studies on new structures to guide experimental studies. The main research contents will focus on two directions:

(i) Developing efficient computational programs to simulate the transmission properties of electrons using the tight binding model and non-equilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) technique.

(ii) Applying the obtained programs to investigate the local electronic and transmission properties.

2020-2022 (PI)
NAFOSTED Study transport characteristics in nano devices based on heterostructures of some advanced materials In the first research direction, we aim to study the transport properties of heterostructures made of graphene and graphene- like materials, particularly focusing on the possibilities of bandgap engineering, and then, to explore these nanostructured materials in realistic devices with potential applications. The charge transport in quantum dots is also an important topic, at the basis of many fundamental and applied researches in nanoscience.

In the second direction of the project, we study the thermoelectric transport in quantum dot devices and aim to clarify the roles of important interactions in the system such as charge and spin interaction, spin-orbit interaction and dot-lead coupling. To do this project, we develop and apply different computational approaches, in particular quantum calculations and simulations based on the Green’s function technique as well as the calculation methods efficiently used in low dimensional systems.

5. Phan Anh Tuan – Lecturer

  Type  Name  Description Period
Goodd889 cá cược trực tuyến institutional level Database system development and data analysis for efficient energy management of microgrids with photovoltaic distributed generation integration The smart microgrid with renewable energy integration is a hot research topic nowadays because of its importance in the exploitation of renewable energy resources in order to develop dynamic low-carbon power systems. Recently, in the world as well as in Vietnam, the exploitation of distributed renewable resources, especially solar power, is strongly expanding. This puts a big challenge on the grid utility for effective integration of the resources into the grid. Therefore, research about the smart microgrid is essential for grid utilities to give optimal solutions of reliable operation, efficient energy management, CO2 reduction, user comfort guarantee, etc. Building can be considered as a microgrid with multiple sources and loads. Since the building is responsible for 40% of global energy consumption. 49.3% of global electricity consumption and 36% of global CO2 pollution [1], the development of the smart building with PV integration draws much more attention in order to improve energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emission worldwide.

Nevertheless, in Vietnam, the research about smart buildings with solar power integration is limited mostly due to the lack of a qualified database for system modeling, load analysis and forecasting, solar power production forecasting, energy audit, user comfort evaluation, etc. It is essential to develop a database system for smart buildings. A smart building with solar generation cannot be realized without a reliable database system.

2022
Goodd889 cá cược trực tuyến institutional level Power quality control in power distribution systems

Electric power systems are complex and composed of various types of sources and non-homogeneous loads. A power system is considered non-stationary because of the random behaviors of all its parts.

Indeed, load can be switched on and off according to user’s unpredictable needs and sources generate electricity in a fluctuating and discontinuous manner. Effective control of the reliability of a power system is always a challenging task. The reliability depends on the power quality of the supply such as frequency deviation, harmonic distortion, unbalance, voltage sag and swell, etc.

The work of the research focuses on the development of models, indicators, and signal processing methods for power quality monitoring in time-varying power distribution systems.

NAFOSTED A study on characteristics of convective heat transfer and turbulent flow past porous bodies Many countries are developing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for national security, search and rescue, and economic development. Therefore, extending flight duration while reducing vibration and noise is crucial. Wingtip vortices, which are affected by ambient temperature and turbulent flow, create induced drag that accounts for up to 40% of aerodynamic drag. This project offers a porous-wing technique to reduce drag by studying convective heat transfer and turbulent flow. Initially, numerical simulations and experimental investigations forecast turbulent flow over the hybrid wing under different heat settings. Porosity, heat transfer coefficient, and turbulent flow Reynolds number are studied. Understanding these characteristics helps build UAVs with longer endurance, higher stability, and better control accuracy by lowering noise, improving operational stability, and aerodynamic efficiency. 2025

Goodd889 cá cược trực tuyến institutional level Evaluation of regenerative braking energy for electric vehicles in different driving cycles The effectiveness of regenerative braking in electric vehicles when operating on various driving cycles is receiving considerable attention from scientists worldwide. This research presents a simulation model of an electric vehicle to evaluate the energy regeneration efficiency under different operating conditions. The model’s results are applied to the Vinfast VFe34 vehicle and its performance on characteristic driving cycles in Hanoi. The influence of characteristic driving cycle parameters on energy consumption and regenerative efficiency is analyzed as a basis for explaining the energy mode in electric vehicles.

The simulation results show the lowest energy consumption when traveling in urban areas and the highest consumption on highways, while the regenerative energy obtained on highways is lower compared to urban cycles. This conclusion is due to the driving behavior and aerodynamics of the vehicles on different types of roads. These results are the basis for researching the algorithm to optimize regenerative braking to save energy on electric vehicles.
